Obituary of Anthony J Roberts

Anthony was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, on August 8, 1930 to Anthony and Carmella Roberts.  He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School.  He then honorably and proudly served in the US Navy from 1950-1954.  Anthony married Mary Anne Arico on June 29, 1952 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church.  For the majority of his long career, Anthony served as the club steward at the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge  #275.  Anthony was an avid NY Jets and Yankee fan. He was a season ticket holder for the NY Jets for over fifty years. He enjoyed watching and going to the football games with his family, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren share his love of the team.  Anthony could bring a smile to anyone’s face and brighten your day with his wit,  stories of his time in the Navy, and unwavering love and support.  His greatest joy, though, was found at the frequent family gatherings surrounded by his loved ones. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Mary Anne of Pleasant Valley and his children: David A. Roberts, Sr. (Ann Marie) and Cheryl Quirk.  Anthony is also survived by his grandchildren, Lisa Horn (Eric), David Roberts, Jr., Christine Sisco (Jacqueline), Kelly and Evan Quirk; great-grandchildren Matthew and Alexander Horn; Andrew Sisco.  He is survived by his sister Gloria Arico (Ernest), and brother Edmond Roberts, and several nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his son-in-law Kerry Quirk, his sister Louise Roberts and sisters-in-law Loretta Mitchell and Patricia Roberts and nephew Ernest Arico, Jr. Funeral Arrangments are under the supervision of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie NY, 12603.
